Behind the Podcast: Unrelated At Birth
Updated: Mar 26, 2020
Hi everyone, Adam here. It all started when Dave and I met at the University of Alabama in 1999. Dave and I had common interests in sports, country music, video games...literally too many things to list. As a result, everyone said back then that we were separated at birth. Fast-forward to today, and we are still best friends, and our kids get along famously - and people still say that we are separated at birth.
For the last year or so, we have been doing a sports podcast called "Sideline Warning." That was a lot of fun, and led to some amazing opportunities - like having media credentials for the Camping World Kickoff where Alabama played Louisville, and being in the press room for the post-game conference of the first Orlando Apollos AAF game (may the AAF rest in peace). But over time, we looked at our show and our interests and found that sports was just one of thousands of things we could take about, and the idea for a new podcast started to form.
Several months, several idea meetings, and several drafts of a logo and theme song later, here we are - two friends who were separated at birth talking unrelated topics...on a new show called "Unrelated At Birth"!

One of the things that makes this show so much fun to record is that, while Dave and I might have a lot in common, we come at most things from a completely different angle. Dave has a communications background, and I went to school for engineering, so we can come at the same topic from a different perspective, leading to lots of banter, back-and-forth, and what we call "get off my lawn" rants where we really get on our soapbox about a topic.
We don't just like to talk at each other - we do this for our listeners! Interaction is key to our approach to the show, not just because it helps us find what folks are interested in, but because most folks get just as passionate about the topics we discuss. This is a labor of love for us, and we appreciate each and every person that takes time out of their day to listen to us and to let us know what they "geek out" about!

So kick back, relax, and listen to our first three episodes, and interact with us on our social media and YouTube accounts. This is just as much your show as it is ours, so your interaction and feedback are important to us! Thanks, everyone!
